I had the opportunity to attend the Bay Area She’s Geeky for the first time. Despite being part of the team that brought She’s Geeky to the Twin Cities, I had never been to the “mothership” so to speak.
Like with the first She’s Geeky I attended in 2009 in Washington DC, each conference is a reflection of the local community. So in DC there were a lot of government workers, here in the Twin Cities it is a lot of marketing and advertising agency techies, and in the Bay Area it is tech giants like Google, Amazon, Apple, Microsoft.
But one of the most important things I’ve learned being a part of both She’s Geeky and Girls in Tech is that there is no single “face” of women in technology. And that is a great thing!
